Dream of the Red Chamber: The Young Master of the Lin Family

When Lin Yan first arrived here, he was a minor landowner whose father had just died after the mourning period for his mother ended. Though a landowner, he had only modest holdings. As the household's sole master, he could probably afford half a bowl of meat a day. It wasn't until he passed the scholar examination and went to Jinling for the autumn provincial exam that he learned the Jia family of Rongguo Mansion existed in this world.

Lin Yan is a member of Lin Hai's clan, but was never adopted into his family. Miss Lin stands on her own. This is a male-led romance, with the one-on-one love interest appearing only much later. The story doesn't focus much on Rongguo Mansion.
