The small intestine is located in the abdomen, with the upper end connected to the pylorus and the stomach, and the lower end connected to the large intestine through the appendix. The small intestine and the heart are each other's exterior and interior. It is the main place for food digestion and absorption. It is coiled in the abdominal cavity, connected to the gastric pylorus at the top and the cecum at the bottom. It is about 3-5 meters in length. It is as big as half a basketball when opened.
