Qinghai Province, referred to as "Qing", is a first-level administrative region in China, located in the northeastern part of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. It is named after Qinghai Lake, the largest inland saltwater lake in China, and its provincial capital is Xining City. Qinghai was called the West Sea, Xianshui Sea, Beihe and Qiang Sea in ancient times, and it has been called Qinghai since the Sixteen Kingdoms period.
