The Paper Effigy Girl

"Give a paper effigy eyes, and it can bear a child in someone else's womb."

That was what my mother told me before she died. She wanted to use a paper effigy's belly to give my father a son.

Later, just as she'd hoped, my little brother was born.

My father was so delighted he couldn't stop grinning, praising how effective my paper effigy was.

But he'd forgotten: could something born from a paper effigy's belly... still be called human?
