Lin Che grew up at his maternal grandmother’s home, surrounded by a group of friends who had been with him since childhood. During the summer vacation of his second year of high school, a new friend arrived in the village. That very day, Lin Che was playing video games at Uncle Hua’s convenience store when the newcomer suddenly called him back. Thinking he was there to keep him in line, Lin Che teamed up with his friends to mess with him. Three days before school started, Lin Che still hadn’t written a single word of his homework. When he happened to hear that the newcomer had finished his, he shamelessly went to borrow it. To his surprise, the newcomer agreed without hesitation, and from then on, the two made up.
