Raising a Female Ghost as My Wife

Lin Mai moves into a century-old house in Xikou Village to work on his thesis, unaware that he has walked into a death trap that has endured for a hundred years. Scratching sounds in the dead of night, bloody hands in the mirror, cries for help from the bottom of a well: the old house is haunted by Su Wan, a bride from the Republican era who was pushed into the well. Trying to save her, Lin Mai accidentally seals a “ghost marriage pact” with her when his blood falls on her. He is forced to begin an absurd life of “cohabitation” with the female ghost.

But the pact’s true price is “life and death together”: the day Su Wan’s soul is destroyed will be the day Lin Mai dies. To survive, Lin Mai investigates the truth behind her death, only to discover that the whole village is hiding a shocking secret. The dry well beneath the old house is a rift leading to the underworld, and for generations the Zhang family has used women with extremely yin physiques as sacrifices to seal it. Su Wan was the fourth offering.

Even more terrifying, Lin Mai discovers that he did not move in by chance. Zhang family blood runs through his veins, and he was chosen a hundred years ago to be the “sacrificial groom.” When the century-old corpse king beneath the well awakens, Su Wan’s other half of her vengeful soul turns into a fierce ghost, and ghost hunters from the Cleaners’ Organization close in, Lin Mai must choose within three months: let Su Wan’s soul be destroyed and end the threat forever, or risk his life to help her reverse the balance between yin and yang?

And when he finally uncovers Su Wan’s true identity, the female ghost trapped at the bottom of the well for a hundred years, with whom he sealed a ghost marriage, turns out to be his great-grandmother, whom he has never met. All ethics, emotions, life, and death crumble beyond repair before this man-eating old well, leaving only despair.
