Floodwaters swept thousands of miles, rushing straight toward Bianliang and leaving countless Northern Song citizens dead or injured.
A bottomless whirlpool was discovered in the Yellow River, and numerous demons, some resembling humans and others beasts, emerged from it. From then on, chaos plagued the world.
To avoid panicking the populace, Emperor Shenzong of Song, Zhao Xu, concealed the news and secretly assembled a force. It recruited practitioners of immortal arts, martial heroes with extraordinary skills, and ordinary people gifted with special abilities, all tasked with slaying demons.
To conceal their true purpose, they disguised themselves as a tavern and set up their base in Bianliang. They called themselves the First House.
