The Imperial Exam Days of a Poor Scholar's Son

Du Hengzhi awakened memories of his past life at the age of eleven. But his elder uncle had spent years pursuing success in the imperial examinations without ever passing, and eventually died after falling ill with a chill that no doctor could cure. His cousin also spent a great deal of money on his studies, and there were many children in the family. They were so poor that they had neither the will nor the means to support one more student.

Besides, Du Hengzhi was already a little late in starting his studies, and the family owed money for various reasons.

If Du Hengzhi wanted to pursue the imperial examinations, he would have to start by paying off the debt...

Author's note: The second author has limited time and energy. It's hard enough to make a living from writing, and work leaves no time to continue with the later court intrigue. The story ends after the protagonist fulfills his family's hopes by studying and making something of himself, so this is the end of Part One. The unwritten material in the outline, namely Part Two, will have to wait until there's time. Plans never keep up with change, after all.
