The Dawn Pact: A Thorny Road

Postwar Severus/Hermione. A crossover with the world of DC and Marvel, drawing mainly on the original Harry Potter and Twilight series and their film adaptations, as well as other vampire novels and screen works.

Warnings: Canon couples are broken up. Since this is Severus/Hermione, there will definitely be no Ron/Hermione. If that bothers you, please move along and find something more to your taste.

Seven years after the Battle of Hogwarts, the wizarding world holds its first postwar election for Minister.

Hermione Granger runs as head of the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures, but her Muggle-born status and reform proposals make her a target of the conservatives, and her relationship with Ron comes to an end. After an accident, she reunites with Snape, who was thought to have died. Transformed into a vampire, he awakens a rare gift and becomes a vampire prince, moving between both worlds under the name Alan Prince.

From academic collaboration to political alliance, and then to secret lovers bound by a meeting of souls, the two stand together through a constitutional crisis in the wizarding world and a schism among the vampires.

As Muggle technology pushes against the boundaries of magic, and blood-purity ideology becomes entangled with a crisis among the different peoples, they work together to build an alliance across species. Meanwhile, Hermione follows a path from department head to Minister for Magic, writing a new vision for survival through power struggles and clashes of civilizations: “harmony without uniformity.”

She sets out without hesitation on this thorny road to power, determined to make authority serve her ideals.

This is a postwar story. The original books, 1–7, and the films will remain largely unchanged, apart from Snape’s ending.

The characters will change in response to their age and circumstances, making the adjustments they have to in order to adapt. I’ll do my best to keep them in character.
