"A Brief History of Chinese Novels" was originally the lecture notes given by Mr. Lu Xun when he was teaching at Peking University. It was later revised and supplemented and published as a book. This is the first monograph on the history of Chinese novels, with twenty-eight articles, covering a vast collection, ranging from ancient myths and legends to condemnation novels in the late Qing Dynasty, including Han Chinese novels, legends of the Six Dynasties, Tang legends, Song scripts, and various novels of the Ming and Qing Dynasties. It examines the origins of Chinese novels, distinguishes authenticity from falsehoods, describes the process of development and evolution, and analyzes the ideas and art of novels in the past dynasties.
