Song of the White Snow

Original title: Song of White Snow; current title: Rain on Broken Jade and Bamboo

(BL, HE, alternate historical setting, mutual devotion, both leads are each other’s first and only)

Gentle, kind Shen Yusha (top) × Rong Rang (bottom), who acts obedient at first before revealing his secret identity

In the twenty-fourth year of the Xianghe era, Crown Prince Shen Yusha brings home a boy and names him Rong Rang. Gradually, he realizes the boy is no ordinary person.

Everyone says the crown prince is the gentlest and kindest of men. At first, Rong Rang scoffs. How many decent people can there be in the imperial palace? But who could have guessed that he, too, would eventually lose himself in those gentle waters?

“A Rang, I used to think I could protect you. I didn’t realize you were so capable that you never needed my protection.”

Rong Rang wraps his arms around Shen Yusha from behind and whispers in his ear, “Your Highness, do you know that the moment I realized I had fallen for you, I was already giving everything I had to run toward you?”

The song goes:

In the twenty-fourth year of Xianghe, broken jade pours over the mountains.

Fate brings us together among the peaks; by chance, I return with someone.

We meet face to face day after day, growing closer month by month.

The great river splashes and surges; the little stream winds on and on.

The dark season will eventually end. Which path will we choose?

On the surface, we turn to the reclusive scholar; in secret, we seek the Lord of the Sleepless Night.

Snow falls with the rain, rustling softly; rain accompanies the snow, swirling down.

The song ends, and we part at last; parted, we meet again.
