In 1853, the Sakura Shogunate, after more than two centuries of peace, was like stagnant water.
The Sakura nation, too, was on its last legs. The common people lived in abject poverty, and even low-ranking samurai struggled to make ends meet. Meanwhile, the shogunate's elite and wealthy merchants wallowed in drunken luxury.
Then black ships from a distant land shattered the Sakura Shogunate's silence, and a great upheaval was about to begin.
