I don't want that generic A City, B City stuff. It feels so half-hearted. I want something grounded in reality, though mutations are fine. The worldbuilding should be clear, the zombies should be powerful, and the protagonist should be smart and not a womanizer.

Are There Any Apocalypse Novels About Fighting Zombies With Conventional Weapons, Without Any Major Annoyances?

Purely modern weapons, or maybe with just a little sci-fi or supernatural stuff! Most zombie apocalypse novels these days have huge amounts of sci-fi and superpowers. Even the protagonist's description is packed with stats, and it's so hard to keep track of. I want to see modern weapons fighting zombie hordes!!!
