Telling the story from the perspective of the male lead, Gu Sheng, I Feel the Wind Rise When I Miss You is a tale of post-2000s campus youth. It begins with Gu Sheng and the female lead, Mu Xiran, who has congenital heart disease, and follows them from their first meeting in high school through the process of getting to know each other and all the little moments they share. Through those beautiful years of youth, they keep each other company, encourage one another, and grow together. Perhaps regret is the defining theme of youth. The ending may not be perfect, but isn’t a novel a reflection of life? We all have to learn to accept an imperfect life.
