The Great Jing Dynasty has stood for three hundred years. Beneath its prosperous facade, corruption festers: eunuch factions control the court and keep the emperor in the dark, while aristocratic clans carve out their own territories and privately raise armed forces. Court factions have deeply infiltrated the jianghu, manipulating martial arts conflicts through political schemes to nurture their own private powers.

The martial world is divided into clear-cut factions: the Seven Orthodox Sects, the Three Evil Pavilions, and the Four Hidden Houses. These three camps balance one another while secretly struggling for power, a state of affairs that has lasted a century. A hundred years ago, the martial world erupted into the epoch-making Battle of Qingya Cliff. The leader of the orthodox sects, the Qingxiao Sect, joined forces with the other prestigious sects to deal a crushing blow to the Bloodshadow Pavilion, the foremost power of the evil path, ending its ambitions to plunge the world into chaos. The two sides then signed a hundred-year truce, establishing the balance of power in the jianghu.
