Siheyuan: Reported for Taking Over a Job, Accused of Collaborating with the Enemy?

Su Chen transmigrated to a Beijing courtyard in 1952. After his only relative, his grandfather, died of illness, Su Chen prepared to take over his job.

But during the background check, Yi Zhonghai egged Jia Zhangshi on to report that his grandfather had been to prison!

Jia Dongxu: “Your grandfather has a criminal record from doing time. Hand over that job, kid!”

Jia Zhangshi: “You’ll starve to death in Beijing without a job. You might as well give up the house and go back to the countryside.”

Yi Zhonghai: “Your grandfather was imprisoned for treason. It doesn’t matter if he was born a poor peasant. There’s no place for you in this courtyard!”

Su Chen was about to lose his job and have his house seized, and they even wanted to drive him back to the countryside.

Just then, the investigation results were announced, leaving the whole courtyard dumbfounded!

The records showed that Su Chen’s grandfather had been imprisoned before the founding of the country, on charges of aiding the Communists!

A senior official: “Comrade, we’re sorry we took so long to come!”

Director Wang of the Subdistrict Office: “Doing time in one of our own prisons is a stain on your record. Doing time in the enemy’s prison is the greatest political credential of all!”

Su Chen: “Haters, drain every last drop of your blood and you still won’t be as red as my family!”

For a moment, all the courtyard’s troublemakers were completely stunned!
