During the War of Resistance Against Japan, Sichuan Army soldiers fought under the banner of the united national front to defend their people and their country's independence. They campaigned across more than ten provinces, including Shanxi, Shandong, Anhui, Henan, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Jiangxi, and Hubei. In battles large and small, including the Battle of Shanghai, the Battle of Taiyuan, the Battle of Xuzhou, the Battle of Wuhan, and the Battle of Suizao, they never shied away from a fight and fought bravely whenever battle came, using inferior equipment and their own flesh and blood to withstand the Japanese invaders' steel tide.
This book collects fifty firsthand accounts of the Sichuan Army's resistance against Japan, written by twenty-five of its generals, including Liu Xiang, Li Jiayu, and Wang Mingzhang. It broadly covers the Sichuan Army's important generals during the war, as well as the major battles and events in which they took part.
