The story follows Yang Chen, who is reborn as a "millionaire" in the early 1960s, armed with a vast hoard of supplies. In this parallel world of the "bird-filled courtyard," rife with conflict and tests of human nature, Yang Chen remains detached from the world and takes his time enjoying the little things. In his spare time, he browses the black market for bargains, hoping to stumble upon a treasure. He dreams of meeting the right woman, spending his life with her, and raising well-behaved children, weaving a peaceful, comfortable life that he can truly enjoy.
