Set in 1978, this is the story of Guiping and A Fa, who come from a remote mountain village. Despite poverty and hardship, they defy their parents' feudal beliefs, study hard, and grow together. They even overcome the threat of death, and come to know and love each other. But reality is cruel. In the end, A Fa leaves the mountains to attend university, while Guiping remains there forever.
