[Satisfying political intrigue + invincible in the later stages + author's imagination + alternate history + ascending the throne]
In the first year of the Zhenguan era of the Tang Dynasty, the Imperial Preceptor Yuan Tiangang and the court astrologer Li Chunfeng concocted an elixir of immortality and presented it to Emperor Taizong. After seeing its severe side effects, the emperor dared not take it, and so he never consumed the elixir of eternal life...
Though Taizong did not take the medicine, he secretly ordered Li Chunfeng to make another pill, hoping to preserve the Tang Dynasty for all time. He had it fed to his eighth son, Li Qiandao. But fate had other plans: after taking the pill, Li Qiandao fell into a coma and would not wake.
Taizong therefore ordered Li Chunfeng to secretly take him to the northern desert, where he was to seek Duokuohuo and find a way to save him.
In exchange, Taizong promised that Li Qiandao's life would be spared, preserving the bloodline of the northern desert tribes.
To ensure peace in the north, Duokuohuo used an ancient method to summon a fragment of a dead soul and lodge it inside Li Qiandao...
After Li Qiandao was rescued, Li Chunfeng cast a hexagram for him. It foretold a hidden dragon biding its time. When the moment came, he would surely clash with his enemies in the wilderness and usher in another golden age for the Great Tang!
To await that moment, they hid him deep in the mountains and watched over him carefully. Then, one morning a hundred years later, a very different Li Qiandao awoke...
