Beyond the World, I Watch the Gods Rot

[Record: Final Conversation with the God Fuxi]

"Who am I?"

"Answer: Mo You."

"You know that's not what I mean."

He looked at the enormous eye hanging high above, gazing down upon the world. For the first time, he saw in it an expression that might have been called emotion or pity.

"...Answer: One who lingers. ...You are unlike everything defined as [existence], and can never reach the end of existence."

"So I won't decay?"

"Answer: Correct. You do not decline. Emphasis: But you are not hope. Conclusion: Your future is solitude. Description: You are like the only gravestone in a desolate graveyard."

A gravestone, enduring without decay... bearing loneliness, cold, desolation, and silence... carved with the meaning of existence.
