A Dream of Romance and Beauty

Duan Yiyun has no heirs. Following a Taoist priest's advice, he travels west in search of a child. Along the way, he hears an old man named Qian Shoucheng recount the tragic love story between himself and Wen Shiwan. Shoucheng asks Duan Yiyun to help him find his beloved, Wen Shiwan. But Wen Shiwan has become a nun. When she learns that her former lover, Qian Shoucheng, waited for her all his life and has now died, she is overcome with grief and follows him in death. Qian Shoucheng is reborn into the Duan family, while Wen Shiwan is reborn into the Yang family. After passing through the cycle of reincarnation, the two meet and fall in love again in the human world, only to have their romance ruined by Niu Xuezhi, their nemesis from a past life. The three become entangled in a tangle of love and hate. In the end, those who hope to rekindle their love cannot be together, and those seeking revenge fail to get it. Nothing goes as they wish, and it all comes to nothing.
