When Osamu Dazai was twenty-one, he met a married woman in a Ginza cafe. Three days after living together, they took sleeping pills and committed suicide by drowning in Kamakura. As a result, Osamu Dazai was rescued, but the 18-year-old woman died. Osamu Dazai was therefore charged with "assisting suicide". Although he was later found not to be prosecuted, he created "Clown's Flower" based on his guilt consciousness of leaving a woman to die alone after making an appointment to die in love. The protagonist Ye Zang Oba in "The Clown Flower" has the same name as the protagonist in "The Unfit". It describes Ye Zang's failure to die for love and then enters a nursing home. However, unlike the Ye Zang in "The Unfit" who has low self-esteem, cowardice, and decadence, the Ye Zang in "The Clown Flower" is young, impulsive and proud. In this work, Osamu Dazai analyzes the mental journey of the protagonist Oba Yozo, who appears to be negative and decadent, but actually seeks to survive in a desperate situation, in his future work "Disqualification in the World", and also reveals many secrets about writing.

This book is very special, the author Osamu Dazai is such a great person! He portrayed the character of Ye Zang so realistically that I loved and hated him at the same time. I especially hate Ye Zang's cowardice, but I can understand his pain. And Osamu Dazai seemed to be chatting with me in the book, telling me all his writing secrets. This book is really worth reading!
