Monk, Stay Away from Me!

[Monk + cultivation + taboos + past and present lives]

Yinye, a member of the Ancientwood Clan who had just turned three hundred, entered the mortal world to gain experience. He never expected to meet a monk intent on persuading him to become a monk at his very first stop.

At their first meeting, Yinye was on his way to Yunmen Mountain to seek a master.

“Benefactor, I can see that you are bright and perceptive, with a natural gift for cultivation. You are clearly destined for a connection with the Buddha. Would you be willing to listen to Buddhist teachings with me and take refuge in the Buddhist faith?”

Yinye was left speechless.

The second time they met, Yinye was being hunted.

“Oh, benefactor!”

“It’s you.”

“Clearly, benefactor, you are destined for a connection with the Buddha. Have you changed your mind? Would you consider joining this humble monk to save all living beings and take refuge in the Buddhist faith?”

Yinye was speechless again.
