Shocking! The Empress Wins the Favor of the Six Palaces by Doing Nothing

As mistress of the Six Palaces, Han Qingtang’s greatest passion was doing nothing. She spent her days idling around the imperial palace.

Sometimes she’d go play cards with Consort Shu, other times she’d admire flowers with Consort Xian. She didn’t act like the mistress of the Six Palaces at all. The other concubines grew so unhappy that they all complained to the emperor, saying Han Qingtang was unfit to be empress and asking him to depose her.

When Han Qingtang heard the news, she said aloud, “This concubine has indeed done a poor job. I’m unworthy of being the empress of Great Sheng.”

But in her heart, she thought: [What? They’re going to depose me? Wonderful! Finally, I can go to the Cold Palace and do nothing to my heart’s content.]

She had no idea they’d fallen right into her trap. The moment she heard she might be deposed, she hurried to pack, ready to leave for the Cold Palace at any time.

But she waited and waited, and the decree never came. Instead, the emperor’s affection for her only grew.

“Who wants his affection? I just want to go to the Cold Palace.”

Xiao Yan took a tumble and unexpectedly gained the ability to read minds. He could hear not only Han Qingtang’s inner thoughts, but those of other people as well.

From then on, he learned many people’s secrets and discovered sides of them they never showed to others.

A little scene:

“What do you think of the Duke’s grandson, Tang’er?”

“The Duke’s grandson is clever and adorable.”

“Good. Then we’ll have one of our own.”

“Ah! No, Your Majesty, you misunderstood. I meant the Duke’s grandson.”

As the layers of curtains fell, Han Qingtang’s voice was swallowed up.

A little note: Both the male and female leads are chaste! The male lead can read minds, though he only hears some people’s thoughts.
