Shi Yi is an ordinary history student who considers herself an utterly unremarkable citizen of China. Then she somehow transmigrates, and the worst part is that she becomes a Xiongnu on Huo Qubing’s campaign to reclaim the Hexi Corridor. Come on, this is Huo Qubing, the peerless young hero who conquered the Xiongnu and brought glory to the empire!
After failing to escape, she puts her skills to use, builds herself up from nothing, and becomes an unofficial member of the Han army while still a Xiongnu.
After barely surviving for five years, she sees history veer off course as Wang Siyuan watches Huo Qubing and the Xiongnu Chanyu perish together. Given another chance, she becomes a high-born young lady with a tarnished reputation.
Looking at the amnesiac Huo Qubing, she says earnestly, “General Huo, you absolutely must not fall in love with me.”
The proud young general scoffs and looks at her disdainfully, enunciating every word. “I will never, ever fall in love with you!”
Later, Huo Qubing kneels in the great hall, letting whip after whip strike his scarred back. The young general repeats over and over: “I want only her, Your Majesty... Huo Qubing will marry no one but her!”
