On the Immortal Peak Terrace, Ge Bulin walks toward a beautiful, ethereal-looking woman surrounded by a crowd, holding a round ring in his hand.
"Fairy, would you put this on for me?"
"Hmph. You want to become my Dao companion? Take a look at yourself first!"
The fairy furrows her pretty brows and sneers.
Ge Bulin freezes. Is he really that ugly?
He does as she says. Reflected in a puddle of yellow-brown liquid is a short, dark-green-skinned little creature with red eyes and pointed ears, its pupils occasionally flashing with cunning...
Well, he doesn't look that bad. He's a little short, his looks are a little rough, and his temper is a little hot, but honestly, he thinks he's pretty decent.
Ge Bulin turns away in disappointment. The fairy calls after him, then looks him over shyly and says in a sweet voice,
"Actually, you're not bad. I'll agree to become your Dao companion."
As she speaks, her eyes stay fixed on the waistband of Ge Bulin's trousers, which he has just fastened.
"Oh?"
Ge Bulin smiles. The ring in his hand suddenly expands into a silver collar.
"Fairy, you may have misunderstood. I wasn't planning to make you my Dao companion..."
