"The Romance of the Gods" is one of the representative novels about gods and demons in the Ming Dynasty. It is mainly based on the history of Jiang Ziya assisting the Zhou Dynasty (King Wen of Zhou and King Wu of Zhou) in the crusade against Shang Zhou. It describes the story of the gods represented by Yuanshi Tianzun of Yuxu Palace and the leader of Tongtian of Biyou Palace representing the interception of the gods. The compiled version of "Feng Shen Yan Yi" by the Humanities Society was first published in 1955 and was edited, collated and punctuated by experts from the Classics Department. In 1973, it was revised and republished with a revised version for reference. It is still a good-quality public reading version of "The Romance of the Gods". This reprint has been re-arranged, corrected for omissions left over from the past, and added a series of illustrations by the famous painter Mr. Dai Dunbang, presenting a version with both pictures and text for a better reading experience.
