The Straight Guy Is Bewitched by His Sickly Childhood Friend

[Two Male Leads + Bittersweet Romance + Straight Man Changes + Slow-Burn Daily Life + Says One Thing, Means Another + Happy Ending]

(A foul-mouthed, soft-hearted, goofy straight guy x a frail, flirtatious beauty)

At twenty-eight, Qi Xia has one regret: when Bai Yu confessed his feelings during their sophomore year, he chose to run away.

Bai Yu is the son of his mother’s best friend. He was beautiful from childhood, but cold and withdrawn by nature, and frail in health. He’s always bumping into things wherever he goes, and he’s unbearably delicate.

Qi Xia can’t stand him.

But they end up at the same university, and his mother orders him to look after Bai Yu.

So Qi Xia starts acting like a foul-mouthed but soft-hearted mother hen, looking after her chick.

After Bai Yu gets a stomach infection from eating the barbecue Qi Xia brought back, Qi Xia scolds him: “You can get sick from eating barbecue? How did you even make it this far in life?”

But the next second, he scoops him onto his back and races to the campus clinic.

When one of the athletic guys in Bai Yu’s dorm gropes him, Qi Xia scoffs, “You’re a grown man. Does getting touched make you lose a chunk of flesh or something? Quit acting like a girl.”

The next day, Qi Xia shows up bruised and battered after getting revenge, waves Bai Yu over, and says, “Call me Dad, and I’ll take you with me.”

His roommate can’t take it anymore. “Qi Xia, are you Bai Yu’s mother? You nag him nonstop, then turn around and stick your nose into everything he does.”

Qi Xia scratches his head, irritated. “What else am I supposed to do? Leave him alone?”

But he can’t stand seeing anyone pick on him.

(In short, it’s a story about a straight guy gradually losing himself to his own protective instincts.)
