This is a gentle upheaval of the times. Human society has become a breeding ground for monsters, and everyone is numb, helpless, and trapped within their own little worlds.

Legal hallucinogenic chips, invented in the 22nd century, have become widespread in human society. Cases of unnatural death are skyrocketing, and the police have established a new psychological support unit to help handle them.

Qiao Chuan, a team leader who can smell the chips, and Lu Qiran, an intern unaffected by illusions, join forces to solve baffling cases and gradually become the perfect partners.

Deaths, brain surveillance, customized illusions, mutated walking corpses, tombs... As the investigation deepens, Qiao Chuan realizes that he seems to be living inside an enormous lie.

And at the heart of this lie, one capable of shaking the very foundations of the world, seems to be Lu Qiran, who has always stood by his side.

Qiao Chuan once depended on Lu Qiran, who was diagnosed with emotional deficit disorder as a child. But as Lu Qiran grew up, Qiao Chuan began to distance himself from the still-underage boy after noticing his unusual feelings.

When they meet again years later, Lu Qiran is all grown up, yet just as he was as a child: cold, expressionless, and outside the rules that govern modern humanity.

He cannot tell what emotions are, yet he shows Qiao Chuan a desire that resembles “love.”

But Qiao Chuan is nearly forty. He has grown set in his ways and jaded.

He avoids Lu Qiran’s unknowing advances and keeps putting off the day Lu Qiran figures things out, unaware that he has long since fallen into his trap.

From slowly luring him in to closing in at every turn, Qiao Chuan, a smooth operator skilled at reading people, is driven into a corner with nowhere to run by the younger man, who is more than ten years his junior.
