Many years later...
I still can't forget the Yunshu Courtyard in Lhasa.
Grandpa Yunshu said:
People in the old days
believed holding hands was sacred.
They didn't wear their love on their sleeves,
but lived together in harmony like a flowing stream.
The husband cooked, the wife washed the vegetables;
After a busy day, they would say, "You're home";
At the market, after the neighbors teased them
for walking hand in hand,
they would still clasp each other's hands firmly...
Love can be subtle, shy, innocent, and passionate...
It can make people blush when they meet and weep when they part,
or make them feel as if they have known each other forever, their every glance writing a story.
It can be a harmonious partnership, where all is peaceful and well,
or sharing every dawn and dusk, walking together until daybreak...
Love is, of course, more than just these words.
It can be so beautiful that "I miss you" becomes:
The south wind knows my heart, and carries my dream to the western isles;
Or it can feel like the heart-wrenching "It's hard to meet, and harder still to part," as the east wind fades and a hundred flowers wither.
Without exaggeration, love can be so vast it fills the very ends of the universe...
It feels like there is a big knife too
