In bustling, thriving Shanghai in 2027, an ordinary programmer named Zhou Chu unexpectedly transmigrates through time and finds himself in the Tang Dynasty, caught up in a modern-day version of Journey to the West. It all begins when an ordinary elevator ride malfunctions, sending Zhou Chu back to ancient times. His main challenge is to join Tang Sanzang and his disciples from the classic Journey to the West and face all manner of trials, playing a crucial role in completing the pilgrimage while also searching for a way back to modern society.
The climax comes after a great battle with monsters and spirits, when Zhou Chu discovers the key to returning to the present: a mysterious talisman that reveals the secret behind the overlap between the two eras. In the end, Zhou Chu combines his programming skills with ancient talismanic arts to create a time portal. He not only helps the master and his four disciples complete their pilgrimage, but also finds his way back to his own era.
