The protagonists of this story are the sisters Jiang Xiaoyi and Jiang Wuyi, born into an unconventional family in the 1960s. Childhood trauma, their parents’ different approaches to raising them, and the contrasting environments they later grew up in all shaped their lives. Though they should have been each other’s closest family, Jiang Wuyi’s jealousy of her older sister, Jiang Xiaoyi, drove them from loving and fighting to eventually losing contact altogether.
Through the changing relationship between the sisters, this book explores how human nature manifests in family ties. Jiang Xiaoyi’s suffering doesn’t come from strangers, coworkers, or friends. It comes from Jiang Wuyi, her own blood relative, someone she is supposed to call family.
Some people come into your life to help you; others enter your world to help you grow. Perhaps fate brought her younger sister to her so she could guide her through life, transforming the once weak and helpless Yijun into a strong, optimistic modern woman.
Every relationship needs boundaries and limits if it is to endure. This book seeks to find a way forward for the many people struggling with family, kinship, ethics, and morality in modern society, and to point those caught in moral and emotional blackmail toward a better path.
Though the story is entirely fictional, countless people face circumstances like Yijun’s in real life. After much thought, I decided to tell it in the first person, to bring the story’s scenes to life and let it unfold more directly.
The story is told from the perspective of the protagonist, revealing true feelings, fully demonstrating the conflict of drama and the twists and turns of life. In the real world, many people want to say goodbye and let go of the entanglements in their original family, so there will be all kinds of struggles and pains. If people paid more attention to the world outside themselves and the world larger than themselves, would it be easier to be happy? Say goodbye to the past and welcome a new life. Life gives people hope and strength. I hope the protagonist can finally find his own bright road!
Another kind of conflict, entanglement and emotional interpretation between sisters and relatives. It makes me want to read it. The first thing I do when I get up every day is to see if there are any updates. I look forward to it.
