Last year we celebrated the New Year at my husband's hometown, and this year it's my turn.
But my mother-in-law called and said that she had secured train tickets for us.
My husband convinced me that he would come to my house to celebrate the New Year for the next three consecutive years, and I calmed down.
When I got on the train, I discovered that my mother-in-law had bought a seat ticket for my husband and a standing ticket for me.
Twelve hours away, my husband proposed that we share a seat in rotation.
But when it was my turn to sit, I pretended to be asleep and denied it, and even yelled in front of everyone:
"This is my seat! I let you sit there out of affection, but I don't let you sit down out of duty!"
