"Fifteen Strings" is a chapter-length historical novel written by the owner of Huanzhu Tower. It is adapted from the traditional Kunqu opera "Fifteen Strings". The story is set in the Ming Dynasty. It tells the story of brothers Xiong Youlan and Xiong Youhui who were wronged for receiving fifteen ounces of money and were both sentenced to death. Kuang Zhong, the prefect of Suzhou, dreamed of two bears wailing at night, so he petitioned for a review, and finally found out the truth and vindicated the unjust case. Through the twists and turns of the plot and distinctive characters, the novel criticizes bureaucracy and subjective assumptions, praises the spirit of seeking truth from facts and petitioning for the people, and demonstrates the author's deep thinking on judicial justice.
