The story takes place in 2045, when humanity's technological progress has reached immeasurable heights. To explore even more possibilities, humans used technology to develop a superweapon called the Wangcheng Device. The scientist Ai Lei believed that anything humans could not control would bring unprecedented destruction to their world. Sure enough, after the scientists used the Wangcheng Device many times, the technological power within it converged into a spacetime portal. Seeking revenge on those “mad” scientists, countless malicious robots poured through the portal and attacked humanity.
To fight back against these events, Ai Lei's son, Ai Ying, created a Cixin Bracelet. Knowing he could not stop them alone, he began gathering his friends and everyone around him who knew about the events, forming an expedition team called the Void Zero Expedition Team to face an unprecedented crisis. Once the events had been quelled, the spacetime portal still refused to close. Using every last bit of his technological power, Ai Ying managed to make it open only once a year. What had seemed like a minor incident grew into something far greater when the God of War, daughter of the Lord of Penglai Island, accidentally entered the human world. The evil power inside the Wangcheng Device kept seeping out and entering the bodies of demons, devils, ghosts, monsters, and gods. They were transported by the spacetime portal to different places, and the human world faced an even greater crisis. The Cixin Bracelet was growing weaker by the day. Ai Ying knew that only by finding its next heir could it regain its power. To find the new savior, the surviving members of the Void Zero Expedition Team, Li Ni and Chen Siyu, split up with Ai Ying and set off in three different directions.
