Immortal Venerable of Ten Thousand Beasts

In the darkness, a man slowly awakens, surrounded by blood. Scorpions crowd around him, some as big as calves and even the smallest as large as millstones. Anyone else would have been terrified out of their wits.

Ow, that hurts like hell. Wasn't I dead? Where am I? Could this be heaven? What are these black things? Oh, my goodness, they're all giant scorpions! This isn't heaven, it's clearly hell. To think I, Pang Yi, would die here.

He wants to run, but the scorpions have him surrounded. There's no escape. Just as he closes his eyes and prepares to die, a ripple stirs in his mind. Following it, he hears a voice calling to him. The giant scorpion swishes its tail and nods.

What's going on? Didn't I fail my college entrance exam and jump into a lake to kill myself? How am I still alive?

His head throbs unbearably. After a while, he realizes he's transmigrated and been reborn. The young man whose body he now inhabits fell off a cliff and died, giving him the chance to take over. By a strange twist of fate, he also formed a contract with a swarm of venomous scorpions. Thinking about it now, it's even more unbelievable than a tall tale. Never mind, he needs to find somewhere to rest first.

As Pang Yi leads his army of scorpions in search of a place to stay, he learns a little about this strange world. Demonic beasts roam everywhere, and extraordinary talents abound: beast tamers, beastmasters, alchemists, artificers, spirit-array masters, diviners… Kingdoms stand side by side, locked in endless wars.
