Ji Lianhai on Qing History

The Qing dynasty was the last feudal dynasty in Chinese history.

From Nurhaci’s rise to power to the abdication of the Xuantong Emperor, this book brings nearly three hundred years of dynastic rise and fall, achievements and failings vividly to life.

The bloody violence of dynastic transitions, visionary emperors and ministers, humiliating treaties imposed under military pressure, reformers seeking change, and the republican revolution that overthrew the monarchy...

The dynasty followed a feudal system that had lasted for millennia, and preceded the rising tide of democratic republicanism.

Teacher Ji Lianhai brings a modern perspective, telling history through people, people through history, and history through human nature.

With fresh insights and witty prose, he reflects on the past to illuminate the future. This book gives you a thorough understanding of three hundred years of Great Qing history, and will keep you turning the pages!
