[Seven-year age gap + doted on by everyone + sweet romance + love that grows over time + childhood sweethearts + healing + salvation + mildly obsessive]
Slow-witted, adorable heroine x calm, steady, fatherly hero
The Yan and Ji families are longtime friends. Soon after Yan An is born, she and Ji Muya, the only son of the Ji family, are betrothed.
Later, Yan An's father becomes critically ill and has no choice but to entrust her to the Ji family.
After her father dies, Yan An suffers a high fever for a week. When she wakes up, she refuses to speak. Everyone thinks the fever has made her stupid.
Everyone: “She's an orphan with no one to rely on, and a little dim-witted too. The Ji family will definitely call off the engagement.”
Everyone: “It's going to be quite a show when they do.”
But what happens is...
The Ji family's champion fighter of a cousin beats up someone for calling Yan An stupid, sending them to the hospital.
The Ji family's lawyer uncle sues the person who splashed water on Yan An, leaving them destitute.
And later...
Ji Muya: “Yanyan, can we please not call off the engagement?”
Yan An: “No. You think I'm stupid.”
Ji Muya: “I don't.”
Yan An quietly looks at Ji Muya without saying a word.
Ji Muya: “Darling, I'm sorry. I was wrong.”
The early part of the novel focuses more on family and friendship, while the later part focuses more on romance.
Author's note: I'm a new writer. Please don't flame the novel while reading. If you like it, follow and add it to your bookshelf. If you don't, feel free to move on. The setting and characters are fictional.
It looks good so far. When will Ji Muyan come back?
