Where Can I Find Dreams Beneath a Boatful of Stars?

I am Tang Gong, courtesy name Wenru.

I am the grandson of the late Duke of Zhao.

I am what people call a remnant of the previous dynasty.

That famous poem people love to talk about was written by me.

“Drunk, I know not that the sky lies beneath the water; a boatful of clear dreams presses down upon the Milky Way.”

When I was very young, getting whatever I wanted was much easier for me than for most people in the world.

I did not need to study hard. I could live freely because I neither had to nor was able to pursue an official career. I did not need to worry about money. I only had to enjoy everything my status brought me.

But only later did I realize that no one in this world can live a whole life without trouble. Sooner or later, somewhere or sometime, you will encounter that event, or that person. In the end, I let He Qingmeng, someone impossible to find anywhere else and discoverable only when I was drunk, slip away from me.

Driven by an obsession and something I longed to obtain, I stubbornly clung to my last breath, lingering between life and death. Through a changing dynasty rocked by political turmoil, rebel uprisings, and rampant Japanese pirates, I struggled to survive.
