Taking Flight from Zero

Moved by the sight of a cold machine, the unfortunate Ling Qi is given a chance to start over. Once, Ling Qi had eagerly joined a battle royale game.

He had been arrogant, proud, and defiant of fate, but the game battered and broke him time and again. As he endured one terrifying ordeal after another, facing death and horror, he gradually became lost and disheartened, always afraid of what he might lose. Even though he was the last one standing, he was ultimately a failure with nothing left.

Then his former System descended from the heavens. Cold and utterly devoid of humanity, the System assigned to him in the game overcame countless obstacles, broke through the dimensional barrier, and escaped the bonds of time and space, arriving in the real world and entering Ling Qi's puppet.

Sanyue: “Host, we meet again. I've upgraded.”

Sanyue: “I want to do something for the players. I can bring back the companions who died in your game.”

Sanyue: “To revive them, you'll need to keep completing escape-game missions in your world, leveling up and collecting soul fragments.”

Sanyue: “Host, are you willing?”

A note from the author:

(Exhausted) I really did write this book alone for a long time. (Frustrated) As expected, I had no readers. It has no (spicy scenes), no (graphic violence), and no eye-catching (absurd contrast). It's a book with none of the usual selling points.

An obscure little story that nobody knows about. In the end, it became just another string of numbers lost among the countless web-novel stats. It was completed on April 15, 2025.

It tells the story of someone who isn't quite beautiful and tragic on purpose. Their beauty comes late, their suffering lasts throughout, and their strength? Compared with all the powerful people out there, they're no more than a speck of dust. The dream of becoming a wish-fulfillment story is ultimately crushed by the weight of realism.
