The Royal Family's Affairs

"When taking a wife, choose Yin Lihua" was the amorous Emperor Guangwu of Han's version of If You Are the One;

"Xiao Lian's jade body lay exposed that night" was the Northern Qi Last Emperor's final night of pleasure;

"Music filled the palace all night long" was Tang Emperor Li Longji's version of The Life of an Artist;

"He loved a beauty more than an empire" was Edward VIII's version of A Chance Encounter with Her;

Emperors could play at romance, and emperors could love art. Emperors could be deeply obsessive, and emperors could play pranks. An emperor is the most extraordinary kind of ordinary person. If you want to understand their joys and sorrows, first learn about the things that happened around them.
