But many officers are nothing like that. They can spend their entire careers without ever handling a major case, doing inconspicuous work and dealing with petty thieves. Some of them might be right beside you, in a shopping mall, on a bus, or in the subway. What they have in common is that they go unnoticed, and sometimes even seem like the kind of people you wouldn’t trust. This book introduces these kinds of police officers.
