Forensic Qin Ming's new retro suspense series "Burning Hummingbird"
It is adapted from the criminal investigation notes of my father who served as a police officer for 36 years.
Qin Ming's father was a criminal policeman. After retirement, he compiled the cases he handled into a memoir. In the memoirs, there is a group of ordinary people who tried to explore the most difficult road in their high-spirited years. After reading his father's story overnight, the shadow of hummingbirds began to appear in Qin Ming's mind.
The story of Hummingbird takes place in 1976, an era that seems strange to us. Gu Hongxing, who had just become a police officer, came across a murder case in which a female worker was involved in a machine and was run over to death. The bloody scene and the broken body had a huge impact on the timid man. From then on, he had nightmares again and again.
At that time, modern crime-solving technology had just emerged. There was no DNA technology, no surveillance video, and no computer network.
Every time Gu Hongxing and the others handle a case, they are faced with difficulties: How to seek justice for the girl who was raped in the dark night? How to know the true identity of a rotting corpse in the wilderness? How to find the hidden real murderer among more than 3,000 suspects?
As the first generation to use trace detection technology to solve crimes, Gu Hongxing never gave up looking for the truth of every case under extremely simple conditions. He is like a hummingbird looking for fire, burning himself all the time in order to bring the hope of light.
But what he didn't expect was that the images lingering in his nightmares were not that simple...

I'd give it a rating of about four and a half stars, I feel like I can't give it five. Maybe I personally have higher requirements for published books, especially the authors have popular masterpieces such as Forensic Physician Qin Ming.
The first is that Uncle Hui was not at the door at the beginning, which I felt was inconsistent. My first reaction at the time was that he should be a murderer or something, but I am not sure whether this was out of intuition or a natural reaction from reading criminal investigation books. And later on, the author did not provide cover for Uncle Hui's absence from the door. I personally felt that it was not perfect.
The second is that the author does not describe many character portraits, which results in the character portraits not being particularly outstanding. Some small action descriptions always feel a bit inconsistent, or they may not be inconsistent. Simply because the descriptions are not detailed enough, and the broad and profound Chinese characters allow some actions to be interpreted in multiple ways, such as the last two people. Personally, I think there is a better way to write the action of hugging one's knees, such as sitting on the six stoves, or simply writing a very relaxed way of sitting on the floor with one's legs bent, and then resting one's hands on the knees. Or, because you are tired, you can first lower your head to breathe and rest, and then look up at the lights of thousands of houses (roughly describe it, in short, I personally think there is a better way to write it)
Of course, these are just my personal thoughts, whether it is good or not, I will continue to follow the next one.

Compared with the case-by-case reasoning in "Forensic Qin Ming", the characters in this book are more vivid and the story has a more sense of life. In order to meet the taste of most young people today, it included a time-travel drama. However, Lao Qin seems not to be very good at time-travel novels, so the quality of his previous works is slightly lower than before.

Qin Ming's books are really getting better and better. I feel that they are much better than the Corpse Whisperer I read in 2014, and the writing techniques are also much better. In my heart, Qin Ming's books are better than online novels like Battle of the Sky, and their realism is first-rate.
