Zhaohua Everlasting, Volume Four

Lady-in-Waiting Xie Yuniang wins the emperor’s favor because she looks so much like the late A Hu. After a series of power struggles, Yuniang finally ascends to the empress’s throne. Emperor Qianyuan has no idea that the woman he loves is actually A Hu, daughter of the great general Shen Rulan, who was executed for treason. A Hu entered the palace to clear her father’s name and avenge the injustice done to the great general Shen Rulan, executed years ago for treason. Watch as this sharp-minded local woman stirs up the dynasty’s political tides and navigates a perilous path of revenge deep within the palace. Faced with everyone’s oppression and suspicion, she has only this to say: To hell with duty to heaven, earth, ruler, and family. She’ll repay kindness with kindness and vengeance with vengeance.

The heroine is neither reborn nor a transmigrator. She’s a native who only pretends to be an innocent flower.

The setup may be a little unsettling, so readers with strict moral sensibilities should proceed with caution. This is a fictional dynasty, so history buffs should proceed with caution too.
