[Resilient, cool-headed heroine vs. obsessive, proud hero] [Heroine’s growth] [Ensemble cast] [Strong female lead]
A devastating drought strikes, and the living are offered as sacrifices. The moment Jiang Wu is bound to the pyre, a resolve burns within her, fiercer than the flames: become stronger. Even a cornered beast will fight back, let alone a human being. Her talent awakens and her bloodline stirs, making her an unparalleled genius with spiritual power in all five elements.
In the Great Peng Kingdom, she is the treasured daughter of the Defender General, adored by all. At the academy, she is the center of everyone’s attention. On the grasslands, she is a solitary guardian. She travels through Shiwei and ventures into Nanzhao, meeting like-minded friends and worthy opponents along the way. She finds a partner whose soul resonates with hers, and a confidant who understands her heart.
Along the long road ahead, she keeps asking herself: What reason is there to keep going? The answer never changes: become stronger, and make the name Jiang Wu resound across the continent of Hanxia!
Sometimes, Jiang Yanbing asks himself why he loves Jiang Wu, and why he cares so much about her.
Love at first sight, and still a flutter of the heart after years together.
There is a sadness about Jiang Wu, as if tears will come in the very next moment, even when she is happiest. The world sees only the sharpness with which she points her sword to the heavens; no one knows the scent of decay and renewal intertwined within her soul. It is as if an old child lives inside her, always filled with sorrow even in moments of joy. Whenever that happens, Jiang Yanbing longs to wipe the tears from both her cheeks. His love is restrained, yet intense.
