After Yue Fei was killed, Yue Lei was exiled to Yunnan, while Yue Fei's two youngest sons, Yue Lin and Yue Zhen, were exiled to Lingnan. Yue Lei served his father during his hunger strike while Yue Fei was imprisoned. During the reign of Emperor Xiaozong of the Song Dynasty, Yue Fei was rehabilitated, and Yue Lei was promoted to Zhongxunlang and Gemenzhihou, and was later posthumously named Shao Zhonghou.
