Above the Swordwind

Countless eons ago, chaos reigned.

Demons ran rampant across the land, leaving the living to suffer.

Moved by the weakness of humanity and unable to bear the thought of mankind’s extinction, the ancient primordial god Pangu passed down methods of cultivation so people could grow stronger and fight the demons.

He then transformed his body into a barrier, sealing the demons within himself, and turned the Pangu Axe into Mount Buzhou to eternally guard the passage between the human and demon realms. Thus, the two races could live without encroaching on each other.

But the demons had endless lifespans, and over time, spiritual energy in the demon realm ran dry. Their leader, Gonggong, rallied the entire demon race to break through Mount Buzhou and invade the human realm.

Led by their chief, Zhurong, humanity fought the demons at Mount Buzhou. In the end, humanity won a bitter victory. Zhurong sacrificed his life to bring Mount Kunlun down upon the passage between the two realms, allowing humanity to recover and rebuild.

Countless eons later, the protagonist, Ye Bukong, is an orphan raised by Wang Yiqi, an unaffiliated cultivator from Qingyun Temple.

Through a twist of fate, he enters a treacherous world of cultivation, swept ever onward by one conspiracy after another.
