She was a doctoral student in the Chinese department at Peking University. Halfway through writing her thesis, a calligraphy brush dragged her into the world of Lu Xun’s short stories.
The System told her: “You are an Awakened One. Your mission is to enter those tragedies that devour people, kindle a spark, and rewrite fate.”
And so...
She became Xianglin’s Wife. In the dilapidated house at Weijia Mountain, she stood up and told her mother-in-law, “I won’t marry him. No one is going to sell me off.”
She became a waiter at the Xianheng Tavern and called Kong Yiji “Sir.” From then on, the impoverished scholar had a school to attend, and the man who had always stood to drink finally sat down.
She became a young helper at the Hua family teahouse and personally burned the human-blood buns, planting science and conscience in the soil of ignorance.
From “The New Year’s Sacrifice” to “Kong Yiji” to “Medicine,” from “My Old Home” to “The True Story of Ah Q” to “Regret for the Past”...
She would make sure Xianglin’s Wife no longer had to bow and worship, Runtu no longer called anyone “Master,” Ah Q no longer deceived himself, and Zijun found a way out of the dead end that comes after Nora leaves home.
This is the story of a woman defying heaven and changing her fate in Lu Xun’s world. She isn’t there to save anyone, but to awaken them: those bent beneath the weight of outdated rituals, those blinded by ignorance, and those whose hearts have frozen in despair.
The spark has been lit.
Are you ready to awaken with her?
