A Record of Building a Happy Life

You can never truly forget someone you loved with all your heart. You think you missed out on one person, but in truth, you missed out on an entire life. Someone once asked me what it feels like to part from the person you love most. I said, "It's nothing much, just like having rheumatism. On sunny days, I'm fine, but at night, the dampness makes the pain so bad I want to die." There aren't that many people in the world who hit it off at first sight and have everything to talk about. It's just that I like you, so everything you say interests me. The songs you tell me to listen to all feel meaningful, the movies you mention all seem profound, and the scenery you describe all sounds beautiful. It's simply because I like you.

How can you forget someone who has taken root in your heart? How can you let go of someone you've fallen for? Some people can only remain at the edge of your lips, hidden by the years. Some kinds of companionship aren't at your side, but live in your heart. Even if you don't meet or speak, even if you have no connection at all, there will always be a place in your heart where someone rests in peace. Whether you see them or not, you still miss them.

So it's really okay. Everyone will love the wrong person, burst into tears for no reason, or suddenly break down while walking down the street. But none of that stops us from watching the sunset and feeling the wind. It will all pass. You have to understand that every relationship, in the end, is just an encounter. Those who care end up burdened; those who don't care aren't bothered. Love is freely given, and when it's over, there's no regret. Don't dwell on debts or let an encounter go to waste! It's enough to have loved. Whether you marry or get a marriage certificate, you'll have regrets either way. The cats in the alley are free, but have no home. The dogs behind the walls have a home, but must keep their heads bowed for life. Whatever you choose in life's multiple-choice question, there will be regrets!
